Ingredients
- Closely adapted from Luscious Lemon Desserts, Lori Longbotham
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- zest from lemon, removed in thin strips
- 7 oz package of imported Italian ladyfingers (savoiardi)
- 4 cups blueberry sauce (see below)
- 1 1/2 cups lemon curd
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- whipped cream for garnish (the tart lemon and intense blueberries are very nicely complimented by whipped cream)
- 3 pints fresh or seasonally frozen blueberries
- 1 cup confectionersâ sugar
- 6 T water
- 2 T fresh lemon juice

%20chocolate,%20nuts,%20mint%E2%80%A6%20but%20on%20the%20other%20hand%20you%20cannot%20serve%20wheat%20germ%20cookies%20to%20company.%20Just%20because%20the%20holidays%20have%20ended%20is%20no%20reason%20to%20inflict%20your%20own%20resolutions%20on%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20world.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhich%20is%20where%20this%20rich%20yet%20tart%20and%20summery%20dessert%20comes%20in.%20With%20every%20bite%20you%E2%80%99ll%20find%20yourself%20dreaming%20of%20July%20sun,%20August%20heat,%20butterflies,%20grass%20under%20your%20bare%20feet%E2%80%A6%20And%20it%E2%80%99s%20such%20a%20good%20dream.%20It%E2%80%99s%20the%20dream%20that%20sustains%20us%20through%20February.%20But%20anyway%20it%20is%20also%20a%20sign%20that%20this%20dessert%20would%20be%20outstanding%20in%20the%20summer%E2%80%93and%20probably%20will%20not%20your%20grace%20your%20Thanksgiving%20table%20any%20time%20soon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20kids%20and%20I%20*had*%20to%20test%20the%20dessert%20before%20serving%20it.%20Clearly%20no%20one%20found%20it%20lacking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20regional%20blueberries%20picked%20and%20then%20immediately%20frozen%20in%20the%20height%20of%20blueberry%20season%20(blueberries%20do%20not%20grow%20where%20I%20am%20but%20my%20local%20farmer%E2%80%99s%20market%20gets%20them%20from%20Michigan%20and%20saves%20some%20for%20me%20to%20come%20get%20the%20second%20they%20arrive).%20I%20used%20lemon%20curd%20that%20I%20made%20last%20spring%20when%20my%20gall%20bladder%20got%20infected%20(I%20had%20tons%20of%20leftover%20egg%20yolks%20from%20making%20so%20many%20fat%20free%20desserts,%20i.e.,%20angel%20food%20cakes).%20It%20came%20together%20so%20quickly%20and%20so%20scrumptiously%20that%20I%20could%20not%20help%20but%20wonder%20why%20I%20had%20avoided%20making%20traditional%20tiramisu%20all%20these%20years,%20thinking%20it%20too%20much%20work.%20Clearly%20I%E2%80%99m%20crazy.%20Or%20lazy.%20Or%20something.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20lesson%20being,%20if%20this%20sounds%20good%20to%20you,%20don%E2%80%99t%20stare%20at%20the%20recipe%20for%202%20years%20like%20I%20did.%20Make%20it%20ASAP!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBlueberry%20Lemon%20Tiramisu%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20the%20sugar,%20water%20and%20lemon%20zest%20to%20a%20boil.%20Stir%20until%20the%20sugar%20dissolves.%20Pour%20through%20a%20strainer%20into%20a%20small%20bowl%20and%20let%20cool%20to%20room%20temperature.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECover%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%209X13%20pan%20(use%20glass%20or%20ceramic)%20with%20the%20ladyfingers.%20Brush%20them%20with%20the%20cooled%20sugar%20syrup%E2%80%93use%20all%20of%20it.%20Pour%20the%20cooled%20blueberry%20sauce%20over%20the%20ladyfingers.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20an%20electric%20mixer,%20whip%20the%201/2%20cup%20heavy%20cream%20until%20it%20is%20thickened%20and%20frothy.%20Add%20the%20lemon%20curd%20and%20room%20temperature%20mascarpone%20into%20the%20cream.%20Using%20the%20whip%20attachment%20of%20the%20mixer,%20whisk%20on%20medium%20speed%20until%20the%20mixture%20is%20smoothly%20incorporated.%20When%20it%20is%20smooth,%20pour%20it%20over%20the%20blueberry%20sauce,%20smoothing%20the%20top.%20Cover%20and%20chill%20for%20at%20least%206%20hours%20or,%20even%20better,%20overnight.%20Scoop%20into%20individual%20trifle%20glasses%20or%20martini%20glasses%20and%20serve%20topped%20with%20whipped%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBlueberry%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EClosely%20adapted%20from%20Luscious%20Lemon%20Desserts,%20Lori%20Longbotham%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3%20pints%20fresh%20or%20seasonally%20frozen%20blueberries%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20cup%20confectioners%E2%80%99%20sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6%20T%20water%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20T%20fresh%20lemon%20juice%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20the%20first%203%20ingredients%20together%20over%20medium%20heat%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan,%20stirring%20occasionally.%20Cook%20until%20the%20blueberries%20are%20softened%20and%20the%20liquid%20is%20saucy,%20about%205%20minutes.%20Turn%20off%20the%20heat%20and%20stir%20in%20the%20lemon%20juice.%20Set%20aside%20to%20cool%20until%20needed%20for%20recipe%E2%80%93you%20can%20also%20make%20ahead%20and%20store,%20covered,%20for%20up%20to%20one%20week%20in%20the%20fridge.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
