The contrasting flavors of ham and melon combine in this simple Italian appetizer. A native of northern Italy will place ham slices between slices of melon. His southern cousin prefers his portion of melon whole, side by side on the plate with the prosciutto.

  1. Wash, cut in halves, and remove seedy center from 1 cantaloupe, chilled.
  2. Cut each cantaloupe half into 4 wedges.
  3. Wrap melon pieces with 8 thin sliced pieces of prosciutto or serve each side by side in a plate.
