Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Chopped yellow onion
  • 1/2 c. Chopped sweet green pepper
  • 2 x Cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 c. Extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp Chili pwdr
  • 2 c. Tomato puree
  • 1/2 c. Red wine vinegar
  • 1/3 c. Firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Crushed dry warm red chili peppers
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt

Directions

  1. Stir fry onion, green pepper and garlic in oil in a saucepan over moderate heat 5 to 8 min till onion is pale golden brown. Add in chili pwdr and stir fry 1 to 2 min. Add in remaining ingredients, cover and simmer 30 min.
  2. Use as a basting sauce for spareribs, beef or possibly poultry.
