Rhubarb Slices with Buttered Almond Glaze Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound rhubarb, fresh or frozen, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Crust:
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup butter flavored shortening
  • 2/3 cup cold milk
  • 1 egg yolk (reserve the white for brushing on the crust)
  • Glaze:
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Sliced almonds for garnish (optional)
