Servings: 12
Ingredients
- 2Â 1/2 c. Bread flour
- 1 c. Oatmeal (dry, not instant)
- 1/4 c. Powdered lowfat milk
- 1/2 Tbsp. Salt
- 1 Tbsp. Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Margerine or possibly oil
- 1 x Egg (unbeaten)
- 1 c. Water
- 1 c. Shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 Tbsp. Yeast (not rapid rise)
Directions
- I was "surfing the net" a couple of weeks ago and followed link after link.
- I found some bread recipes which I printed out. I swear I have no idea where I was nor do I have any idea how to get back there. However, here is one really good recipe. My apologies to the "owner".... See my personal notes at the end.
- 1. Place in the breadmaker basket in the order given: flour, oatmeal, dry lowfat milk, salt, sugar, margerine.
- 2. Add in the egg, water, and cheese.
- 3. Place yeast in yeast dispenser.
- 4. Select sandwich mode. Start machine. Takes 4 hrs.
- Personal notes: I adapted the recipe to fit my Panasonic machine. My family really loved this bread. It is a little denser than regular bread, and it was absolutely perfect for toast and grilled sandwiches. After it cooled well, I was able to make some really thin slices, that my daughter loves.
- I gave half of the loaf to my neighbors (who supply me with bounty from their garden) and they gave it two thumbs up.
