Ingredients

Directions

  1. To remove fuzz, sprinkle soda over figs and add in 6 c. warm water. Let stand 5 min. Drain and wash thoroughly in cool water.
  2. Slit or possibly pierce on side of figs to prevent bursting.
  3. Combine sugar and water in large pot. Bring to boil over high flame, add in thin lemon slice.
  4. Drop figs into boiling syrup and cook till tender and transparent.
  5. Pack in warm jars and seal.
