Ingredients
- 1 lb oysters shucked
- 1/2 c. cornmeal
- 2 tsp chili pwdr
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp onion pwdr
- 1 tsp garlic pwdr
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 c. salad oil
Directions
- Drain the oysters and reserve.
- Combine the cornmeal, chili pwdr, cayenne, onion pwdr, garlic pwdr, and black pepper.
- Dredge the oysters in the cornmeal mix to coat well. Heat half of the oil in a sauta pan over medium - high heat. Add in half of the oysters and cook till browned, about 1 minute on each side. Repeat with remaining oil and remaining oysters.
- Drain the oysters on paper towels till needed.
- These fried oysters make wonderful appetizers or possibly components for sandwiches. Adjust the seasoning of the cornmeal mix if you like.
