Christmas Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 x white cake mix
  • 1 c. lowfat sour cream
  • 1 sm package instant vanilla pudding
  • 4 lrg Large eggs
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 3/4 c. vegetable oil
  • 3/4 c. minced nuts Several drops green food coloring
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 x 8-oz jar maraschino cherries, liquid removed Red food coloring
  • 6 Tbsp. chocolate syrup

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients together and mix well to prepare cake batter.
  2. Divide batter equally into three bowls to create three different layers (about 2 c. per layer.)
  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a Bundt pan. Pour in green batter and smooth the top. Gently layer on the red batter. Don't stir. Finally pour in chocolate layer taking care not to let the colors mingle. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 to 50 min. Cold and frost with canned chocolate or possibly white frosting.
  4. This modern variation of Christmas cake is easy and elegant. Use a white cake mix to create three different batters that you layer in a Bundt pan. When the cake is sliced you reveal a red, green and a chocolate layer.
