  • 2 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine
  • 3 x sweet white onions, sliced
  • 2 c. (Bounces) Swiss cheese, shredded, divided
  • 1 x 10-1/2-oz can cream of chicken soup, undiluted White pepper or possibly black pepper, to taste
  • 2/3 c. lowfat milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 8 slc French bread, buttered on both sides

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. In a skillet, heat butter and saute/fry onions till clear and slightly brown. Layer onions, 2/3 of the cheese and the pepper in a 2- qt casserole. In a sauce pan, heat soup, lowfat milk and soy sauce. Stir to blend. Pour soup mix into casserole and stir gently. Top with bread slices. Bake for 15 min. Push bread slices down under sauce. Sprinkle with remaining cheese, Bake 15 min more. Can be served as a side dish with beef and pork roast.
  2. Serves 8.
