Ingredients
- FOR THE SYRUP:
- 2 cups pure maple syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 pinch salt
- FOR THE DUMPLINGS:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1 cup milk*
- 1/2 cup seedless raisins (for syrup)
Directions
- Combine maple syrup, water, and a pinch of salt in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
- Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Sift together. Cut in butter with two knives or pastry blender. Add milk and stir to obtain a smooth paste.
- Drop thick dough by spoonfuls in boiling maple syrup and allow to cook 20 minutes without removing lid from the pan.
- Serve with pure maple syrup (boil to thicken, if desired) to which raisins have been added.
