Butterhorn Rolls Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound loaf: - 1 lb loaf:
  • 3/4 c. lowfat milk (1/2) (plus 2 Tablespoons for Welbilt/Dak) (plus 1T)
  • 1 x egg (1)
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour (2)
  • 1/3 c. oil (1/2)
  • 1/3 c. sugar (1/4)
  • 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast (1 1/2) (Red Star, up to 2 tsp for 1 1/2 lb)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. melted butter (1) or possibly margarine

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients except melted butter in bread pan, select Dough Setting and press Start.
  2. When dough has risen long sufficient, the machine will beep. Turn off bread machine, remove bread pan, and turn out dough onto a floured countertop or possibly cutting board. Shape dough into a log.
  3. For 1 1/2 Lb.
  4. With a sharp knife, divide dough into 3 pcs, roll each piece into a ball.
  5. FOR 1 POUNDWith a sharp knife, divide dough into 2 pcs;roll each piece into a ball.
  6. With a rolling pin, roll each ball, one at a time, into a 9 inch circle. With a sharp knife or possibly a pizza cutter, divide each circle into 8 wedges, as if cutting a pizza. Staring at the wide end roll up each wedge toward the point. Place rolls on an ungreased baking sheet, point side underneath. Cover and let rise in a hot oven 30 to 45 min till doubled.
  7. (Hint: to hot oven slightly,turn oven on Hot setting for 1 minute then turn it off,) and place covered rolls in oven to rise
  8. (Remove sheet from oven to preheat.)
  9. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Brush rolls lightly with melted butter. Bake for 12 to 15 min till golden brown. Remove from oven and serve hot
  10. 1 1/2 lb. dough yields 24 rolls1 lb. dough yields 16 rolls.
  11. Make these once and they will become favorites. The dough is so easy to handle. They are rich and tender.
