  • 6 Tbsp. Butter or possibly oil Salt Freshly grnd black pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Halve the onions and arrange them in a greased baking dish or possibly on a greased grill rack, dot with butter, and cook till tinged with black and brown, nearly charred, for 45 min to 1 hour and 15 min, brushing with more butter or possibly oil as necessary to keep moist. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Serve warm or possibly chilled.
  4. Yield: Serves 6
