- Basmati rice – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 (medium sized) (chopped finely)
- Tomatoes – 2 (chopped finely)
- Capsicum – 1 (chopped finely)
- Carrot – 1 (Boiled and chopped )
- Green peas – 1/2 cup (boiled)
- Butter or oil – 2 tablespoons
- Cumin seeds or jeera – 1/2 teaspoon
- Ginger-garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
- Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon or as required
- Pav bhaji masala – 2 teaspoons
- Lemon juice – 1/2 teaspoon
- Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
- Water – 3 and 1/2 to 4 cups
- Salt to taste
- Tawa pulao is best served hot or warm. It can also be prepared with leftover rice
