%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurns%20out,%20this%20common,%20everyday%20(no,%20really,%20everyday)%20ingredient%20was%20a%20hard%20one.%20%20I%20found%20it%20similar%20to%20being%20on%20the%20cereal%20aisle%20at%20the%20grocery.%20%20So%20many%20choices.%20%20Too%20many%20choices.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20ran%20a%20few%20ideas%20by%20The%20Husband.%20%20When%20I%20described%20the%20idea%20I%20had%20in%20mind%20for%20bread%20pudding%20flavored%20with%20chocolate%20and%20coffee,%20he%20said%20%22that%20sounds%20cool.%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20really,%20it's%20better%20warm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMocha%20Latte%20Bread%20Pudding%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ew/%20Caramel%20Whiskey%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20texture%20is%20actually%20more%20like%20chocolate%20panna%20cotta%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethan%20bread%20pudding,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebut%20there's%20nothing%20wrong%20with%20that.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20bread%20pudding%20has%20a%20luscious,%20velvety%20texture%20with%20over-the-top%20rich,%20dark%20chocolate%20flavor.%20%20The%20strong%20brewed%20coffee%20elevates%20the%20chocolate.%20%20The%20Whiskey%20Caramel%20Sauce%20would%20be%20good%20on%20standard%20bread%20pudding%20too.%20%20The%20whiskey%20isn't%20noticeable%20at%20first,%20but%20look%20for%20it%20on%20the%20finish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPart%20of%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJen%20of%20Four%20Marrs%20and%20One%20Venus%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThanks%20to%20Julie%20&%20Jen%20for%20organizing%20the%20event!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAhead:%20Spread%20the%20bread%20cubes%20out%20on%20a%20sheet%20pan%20and%20let%20them%20sit%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20hours%20to%20dry%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20eggs,%20egg%20yolk,%20sugar,%20and%20vanilla%20in%20a%20large%20mixing%20bowl.%20%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20milk,%20cream,%20and%20coffee%20to%20a%20medium%20saucepan%20set%20over%20medium%20heat.%20Whisk%20in%20the%20cocoa%20powder%20until%20dissolved.%20%20Warm%20the%20mixture,%20whisking%20occasionally%20to%20prevent%20scalding,%20for%20about%204%20minutes--until%20you%20start%20to%20see%20steam%20rising%20from%20the%20surface.%20%20Turn%20off%20the%20heat%20and%20whisk%20in%203/4%20cup%20chocolate%20chips.%20%20Whisk%20until%20chocolate%20has%20melted.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlowly%20whisk%201%20cup%20of%20the%20milk%20and%20chocolate%20mixture%20into%20the%20egg%20mixture.%20%20Then%20whisk%20the%20remaining%20milk%20mixture%20into%20the%20egg%20mixture.%20%20Add%20the%20bread%20cubes%20and%20gently%20toss%20to%20coat.%20%20Press%20on%20the%20bread%20slightly%20as%20you%20go%20to%20allow%20the%20bread%20to%20absorb%20the%20chocolate%20custard.%20%20Fold%20in%20the%20remaining%201/2%20cup%20chocolate%20chips.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETransfer%20the%20bread%20mixture%20to%20a%20buttered%202%20quart%20baking%20dish.%20%20Let%20stand%20while%20oven%20preheats%20to%20350%20degrees%20F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20a%2013%20x%209%20pan%20on%20the%20center%20rack%20of%20your%20oven.%20%20Place%20the%20bread%20pudding%20in%20the%2013%20x%209%20pan.%20%20Fill%20with%20water%20until%20water%20is%20about%20halfway%20up%20the%20side%20of%20your%20baking%20dish%20(containing%20the%20bread%20pudding).%20%20Bake%20for%20about%2040%20minutes%20or%20until%20a%20butter%20knife%20inserted%20in%20the%20middle%20comes%20out%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20bread%20pudding%20from%20the%20oven%20to%20cool%20slightly%20while%20you%20make%20the%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efor%20the%20sauce:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20cup%20sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20cup%20heavy%20whipping%20cream,%20warmed%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2-3%20Tbsp%20whiskey%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20sugar%20in%20a%20medium%20saucepan%20set%20over%20very%20low%20heat.%20%20Melt%20the%20sugar,%20lightly%20stirring%20to%20prevent%20scorching,%20until%20sugar%20has%20melted%20completely%20and%20is%20golden.%20%20This%20will%20go%20slowly%20at%20first,%20resulting%20in%20lumps%20of%20sugar,%20but%20will%20speed%20up%20as%20the%20mixture%20heats.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlowly%20add%20the%20cream%20in%20a%20stream,%20stirring%20it%20into%20the%20sugar%20mixture.%20%20Stir%20in%20the%20whiskey.%20%20Simmer%20the%20mixture%20for%20a%20few%20minutes%20until%20thickened%20(it%20will%20thicken%20more%20as%20it%20cools).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20the%20bread%20pudding%20with%20some%20of%20the%20sauce%20poured%20over%20the%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso%20linking%20with:%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
