Ingredients
- 17 ounce Flour
- 1 dsh Salt
- 1/2 pt Lowfat milk
- 1 tsp Active dry yeast
- 2 x Large eggs
- 4 ounce Butter
- 2 ounce Sugar Lemon peel
Directions
- Scald lowfat milk. Soften yeast in 2 Tbsp. hot water, mix with sugar & stir with 1/2 the scalded lowfat milk. Pour flour in a bowl, make a hole in the center & put the yeast into it. Mix yeast with flour. Lay butter, sugar & lemon peel on side of bowl; cover & set aside till dough is doubled. Add in Large eggs & salt, knead dough till it leaves side of bowl. Form into dumplings. In a heavy skillet with tight fitting lid put remaining lowfat milk, add in a little butter and put dumplings in. Cook over medium heat. Don't remove lid during cooking process. Serve with vanilla sauce.
