Ingredients

Directions

  1. Beat egg yolks and 1/2 c. sugar till thick and lemon colored. Reserve.
  2. Cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy. Beat in egg whites.
  3. Fold in egg yolk mix, baking soda, cream of tartar, nutmeg, salt and vanilla.
  4. Fold in flour gradually.
  5. Cover and chill at least 1 hour.
  6. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  7. Roll out dough on floured surface. Cut into shapes.
  8. Bake on greased baking sheet, 8 to 10 min.
  9. Either sprinkle with colored sugar before baking or possibly bake plain and use a powdered sugar glaze.
