- All Purpose Flour: 2 cups
- Salt: 1/8 tsp
- Sugar: 3.25 tbsp
- Instant Yeast: 2 tsp
- Lemon zest: 1/2 a lemon
- Grated Nutmeg: 1/2 tsp
- Vanilla :1/2 tsp
- Lukewarm milk: 1/2 cup (100ml)
- Butter: 4 tbsp melted
- Egg Yolk: 1 (1.5 pkd tsp of Ener G + 1 tbsp of water)
- Raisins: 1/4 cup
- Peeled almonds: 8 tsp
- Egg wash: 1 egg + 1 tbsp of water

%20for%20Baking%20Partners%20A%20Simple%20sugary%20brioche%20type%20bread%20but%20rich%20with%20eggs.%20Now%20thats%20where%20my%20adaption%20skills%20work.%20I%20had%20earlier%20trid%20brioche%20without%20eggs%20and%20it%20had%20come%20out%20fine.%20So%20here%20too%20I%20replaced%20the%20egg%20yolks%20in%20the%20recipe%20with%20EnerG%20egg%20replacer.%20Now%20as%20per%20Swathi%20its%20like%20a%20%22%20curry%20without%20salt%22%20but%20still%20the%20bread%20turned%20out%20perfect.%20As%20usual%20I%20halved%20the%20recipe%20and%20read%20it%20below..%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreparation:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20big%20bowl,%20mix%20together%20flour,salt,sugar,%20yeast,%20nutmeg%20and%20lemon%20zest.%20Add%20in%20the%20vanilla,%20butter,%20milk%20and%20egg%20yolk%20in%20the%20well%20in%20the%20middle%20and%20start%20stirring%20with%20a%20spoon%20mixing%20into%20the%20surrounding%20flour.%20Once%20the%20dough%20becomes%20too%20stiff%20for%20a%20spoon,%20begin%20t%20knead%20it%20with%20onehand%20trying%20to%20incorporate%20tje%20remaining%20flour.%20If%20the%20dough%20is%20too%20dry/crumbly,%20add%20in%202-3%20%20tbsps%20of%20milk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurn%20the%20dough%20into%20to%20a%20counter%20and%20knead%20for%20another%2010%20minutes%20prying%20apart%20the%20dough%20with%20the%20%20lower%20part%20of%20your%20palms,%20fold%20in%20half%20and%20twist%20and%20repeat%20this%20till%20you%20get%20a%20smooth%20soft%20dough.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETransfer%20the%20dough%20to%20a%20lightly%20greased%20pan%20and%20let%20it%20sit%20in%20a%20warm%20place%20until%20it%20doubles%20in%20volume.%20Meanwhile%20heat%20water%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20add%20raisins.%20Let%20it%20boil%20until%20%20it%20plumps%20up.%20Drain%20on%20a%20kitchen%20towel%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETransfer%20the%20dough%20on%20to%20a%20lightly%20dusted%20surface%20and%20place%20the%20raisins%20on%20top%20if%20it.%20Try%20to%20incorporate%20the%20raisins%20into%20the%20dough%20while%20kneading.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDivide%20the%20dough%20into%209%20equal%20parts%20and%20roll%20out%20each%20about%2015cm%20long%20cylinder.Take%20the%20first%204%20cylinders%20and%20lay%20them%20next%20to%20each%20other%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJoin%20at%20one%20end%20and%20then%20bring%20the%20first%20one%20at%20extreme%20left%20over%20the%20third%20one.%20And%20bring%20the%20fourth%20one%20at%20extreme%20right%20over%20the%20top%20of%20second%20one.%20Now%20the%20earlier%20frst%20one%20has%20become%204th%20and%20the%20previous%204th%20has%20become%201st.%20Repeat%20the%20steps%201%20over%203%20and%204%20over%202%20and%20join%20the%20ends%20to%20get%20a%20beautiful%204%20stranded%20braid,%20Keep%20it%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETake%20the%20next%203%20strands%20and%20make%20a%20three%20braided%20dough%20and%20keep%20it%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20a%202%20stranded%20braid%20with%20the%20remaining%20two.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%204%20braided%20piece%20on%20a%20lined%20baking%20sheet%20and%20bake%20a%20slight%20depression%20in%20the%20middle%20so%20it%20can%20hold%20the%20other%20two%20braids.%20Place%20the%20three%20braid%20bread%20ontop%20of%20this%20followed%20by%20the%20two%20braided.%20If%20there%20are%20loose%20ends%20try%20to%20tuck%20underneath%20the%20entire%20bread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStick%20almonds%20on%20the%20sides%20-either%20sliced%20or%20whole%20peeled.%20Then%20stick%20toothpicks%20in%20between%20so%20that%20it%20doesn't%20flip%20during%20baking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20350F%20/175C%20while%20the%20dough%20is%20resting%20-%20which%20should%20not%20be%20more%20than%2030%20mnts.%20Brush%20the%20bread%20with%20egg%20wash%20%20or%20milk/butter%20%20and%20bake%20for%20about%2038-42%20minutes%20making%20sure%20the%20top%20doesn't%20brown%20too%20much..%20in%20which%20case%20cover%20it%20with%20a%20foil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20removing%20from%20the%20oven%20sprinkle%20with%20powdered%20sugar%20/glaze%20and%20let%20it%20cool%20completely.Slice%20into%20pieces%20and%20serves.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAn%20excellent%20raisin%20bread.%20The%20aroma%20of%20sugar%20and%20raisin%20definitley%20gives%20a%20festive%20feel.The%20original%20recipe%20adapted%20from%20here%20and%20which%20came%20from%20Swathi%20sugested%20baking%20time%20of%2038%20minutes,%20but%20my%20eggless%20version%20definitely%20took%20few%20extra%20minutes%20as%20I%20have%20seen%20in%20some%20of%20the%20egg%20replacer%20preparations.%20I%20suppose%20this%20is%20because%20the%20egg%20replacer%20powder%20is%20made%20up%20of%20different%20plant%20based%20startces%20which%20take%20longer%20time%20to%20cook.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELets%20see%20who%20all%20baked%20V%C3%A1nocka%20for%20Christmas.%20Hope%20over%20to%20Swathi's%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
