Ingredients
- 1 cup spelt flour
- 1 cup oat flour
- 1/4 cup Turbinado sugar
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 cup applesauce (unsweetened)
- 1/4 cup plain greek 0% yogurt (Oikos)
- 2 1/2 tbsp 1% milk (or whatever you have)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup frozen strawberries cut up
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1-2 tsp flour to dust counter with
- 1 tsp milk to brush scones
- 1 tsp sugar (for top of scones)

%20sugar%20and%202%20types%20of%20fruit,%20what%20could%20be%20bad?%20NOTHING,%20I%20tell%20ya.%20Danny%20eats%202%20of%20these%20a%20day,%20hah.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20my%20effort%20to%20expand%20my%20horizons%20and%20continue%20in%20my%20quest%20to%20discover%20new%20foods%20(and%20seeing%20some%20scones%20around%20the%20blog%20world%20lately),%20I%20decided%20on%20these%20scones.%20I%20was%20ready%20to%20make%20some%20adaptations%20to%20fit%20whatever%20I%20had%20in%20my%20pantry/freezer.%20So%20onto%20something%20I%20haven%E2%80%99t%20tried%20before%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStrawberry%20Chip%20Scones!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOkay,%20so%20maybe%20they%20aren%E2%80%99t%20shaped%20perfectly,%20but%20hey%20it%20was%20only%20my%20first%20time%20making%20them!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoll%20it%20out%20into%20a%20circle%20on%20a%20lightly%20flour%20surface%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20a%20pizza%20cutter%20to%20cut%20it%20into%2012%20pieces.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey%20definitely%20were%20not%20shaped%20perfectly,%20but%20again,%20it%20was%20my%20first%20time%20making%20them%20so%20it%E2%80%99s%20okay.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERight%20out%20of%20the%20oven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStrawberry%20Chip%20Scones%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20375%20degrees.%20In%20a%20large%20bowl%20combine%20flours,%20sugar%20and%20salt.%20Stir%20in%20baking%20power%20and%20baking%20soda.%20%20Add%20applesauce.%20Then%20stir%20in%20yogurt,%20milk%20and%20vanilla.%20Stir.%20Add%20strawberries%20and%20chocolate%20chips.%20Stir%20until%20dough%20is%20thick.%20On%20a%20lightly%20floured%20surface%20roll%20out%20the%20dough.%20Form%20it%20into%20a%20circle%20and%20cut%20into%206%20or%2012%20pieces%20depending%20on%20the%20size%20you%E2%80%99d%20like.%20(I%20sprayed%20a%20pizza%20cutter%20with%20non-stick%20spray%20to%20make%20it%20easy%20to%20cut.)%20Use%20a%20spatula%20to%20move%20pieces%20to%20a%20non-stick%20cookie%20sheet.%20Lightly%20brush%20the%20top%20of%20the%20scones%20with%20milk%20and%20sprinkle%20it%20with%20sugar.%20Bake%20for%2020%20minutes%20until%20tops%20are%20lightly%20browned.%20Remove%20and%20transfer%20to%20a%20cooling%20rack.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20also%20made%20a%20bunch%20of%20other%20treats%20yesterday%20including%20goji%20berry%20granola%20bars,%20flax%20seed%20crackers,%20pitas%20and%20flat%20bread%20(that%20may%20have%20failed%E2%80%A6)!%20So%20I%20have%20lots%20more%20recipes%20for%20you!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20for%20my%20last%20day%20of%20vacation,%20I%20will%20be%20going%20to%20a%20spin%20class%20and%20then%20getting%20a%20manicure%20and%20pedicure!%20I%20haven%E2%80%99t%20spent%20any%20money%20all%20week%20(and%20I%E2%80%99m%20very%20proud%20of%20myself)%20so%20today%20is%20my%20treat%20day!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHope%20all%20your%20Friday%E2%80%99s%20are%20wonderful!%20I%20may%20not%20be%20so%20happy%20at%20this%20time%20Monday%E2%80%A6haha%20(but%20really%E2%80%A6)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Echocolate,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efruit,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Evacation%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
