Directions

  1. Heat an outdoor grill to medium, or possibly heat a well-seasoned grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Lightly spray the cut surface of the figs with cooking spray. Place the figs on the grill, and cook till browned on both sides, 2 to 3 min a side. Place the figs in a shallow dish and drizzle with the balsamic vinegar and lemon juice. Let the figs marinate while you prepare the remaining ingredients.
  3. Puree the cottage cheese in a food processor or possibly blender till smooth and light. Stir in 1 Tbsp. of the sage, the chives, salt and pepper. Set aside.
  4. Lightly spray both sides of the bread slices with cooking spray. Grill the slices on both sides till golden, 2 to 4 min.
  5. Spoon about 1 Tbsp. of the cottage cheese mix on each slice of bread, spreading to the edges. Top each slice with a grilled fig and sprinkle with the remaining sage.
  6. This recipe yields 12 slices.
