,%20I%E2%80%99m%20talking%20about%20real,%20honest%20to%20goodness,%20guest-bedroom%20visitors.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20like%20it%20a%20lot.%20%20I%20love%20having%20company,%20since%20I%20live%20alone.%20%20And%20I%20love%20showing%20off%20our%20property.%20%20And%20I%20love%20feeding%20all%20the%20people.%20%20I%20even%20love%20doing%20the%20dishes%20(almost).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20past%20weekend,%20our%20visitor%20was%20arriving%20just%20at%20lunch%20time.%20%20I%20knew%20she%E2%80%99d%20be%20hungry%20and%20I%20knew%20I%20wanted%20something%20quick%20and%20easy%20to%20serve%20up.%20%20We%20all%20loved%20these%20grown%20up%20grilled%20cheese%20sandwiches%20I%20concocted.%20%20Our%20guest,%20in%20fact,%20was%20the%20one%20who%20named%20them%20%E2%80%A6%20quickly%20likening%20this%20meal%20to%20French%20Onion%20soup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20the%20onion%20jam%20filling%20a%20few%20hours%20before%20mealtime%20and%20kept%20it%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20until%20lunch.%20%20%20I%20toasted%20one%20side%20of%20each%20piece%20of%20bread%20in%20the%20broiler.%20%20When%20the%20guests%20arrive,%20I%20added%20the%20cheese%20to%20untoasted%20side%20of%20half%20the%20bread%20slices%20and%20onion%20jam%20to%20the%20other%20half.%20%20After%20broiling%20for%202%20or%203%20minutes,%20everything%20was%20perfectly%20warm%20and%20melty%20for%20serving.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20Year%20Ago:%20Morrocan%20Chicken%20and%20Lentils%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETwo%20Years%20Ago:%20Vegetarian%20Shepherd%E2%80%99s%20Pie%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFrench%20Onion%20Grilled%20Cheese%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20the%20butter%20over%20medium%20heat%20and%20then%20add%20the%20onions.%20%20Cook%20the%20onions,%20stirring%20occasionally,%20for%20about%2015%20minutes.%20%20Add%20the%20sugar%20and%20a%20pinch%20of%20salt,%20and%20cook%20for%20an%20additional%2010-15%20minutes%20until%20deeply%20golden%20brown.%20%20Stir%20in%20the%20red%20wine%20and%20balsamic%20vinegar.%20%20Continue%20cooking%20until%20the%20liquid%20has%20been%20absorbed%20and%20the%20mixture%20has%20thickened,%20about%2010-15%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUnder%20oven%20broiler,%20toast%20one%20side%20of%20the%20bread%20slices.%20%20Flip%20bread%20over%20and%20top%20have%20the%20slices%20with%201%20or%202%20slices%20of%20cheese%20and%20the%20other%20have%20with%201-2%20T%20onion%20jam.%20%20Broil%20until%20cheese%20is%20melted.%20%20Put%20slices%20together%20to%20form%20sandwiches.%20%20Serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh,%20Hi.%20%20Are%20you%20still%20there?%20%20I%20thought%20you%20would%20have%20left%20after%20that%20last%20picture%20of%20my%20grilled%20cheese.%20%20%20Well,%20since%20you%20stuck%20around,%20do%20you%20know%20anyone%20who%20wants%20a%20dog?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20Mardi.%20%20She%E2%80%99s%20my%20foster%20pup%20and%20in%20need%20of%20a%20home.%20%20I%20figured%20the%20best%20way%20to%20get%20the%20word%20out%20was%20to%20use%20my%20blog.%20%20I%20mean,%20someone%20has%20to%20know%20someone%20who%20needs%20this%20precious,%2015%20lb,%20full%20grown%20girl.%20%20Right!?%20%20She%20bounds%20through%20the%20fields%20like%20a%20jackrabbit%20and%20is%20one%20of%20the%20100%25%20happiest%20dogs%20I%E2%80%99ve%20ever%20met%20(and%20I%E2%80%99ve%20met%20a%20lot%20of%20dogs.)%20%20Oh,%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20live%20nearby?%20%20No%20problem.%20%20We%E2%80%99ll%20get%20her%20transported.%20%20Let%20me%20know!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
