Quick & easy, slightly tart-sweet-spicy cranberry sauce

  • 1 12 oz. bag cranberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 small green apple; peeled & grated on large grate of box grater
  • 1/4 inch thick nickle size piece ginger grated on zester
  • 2 inch piece cinnamon stick

Directions

  1. In medium sauce pan, over medium high heat bring sugar, water, zest, ginger & cinnamon to a boil.
  2. Add cranberries & bring back to a boil.
  3. Let cranberries simmer & skins pop & stir often. Simmer for approximately 10-15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat & let cool to room temp. Once cool remove cinnamon stick, transfer to storage container & refigerate.
