%20and%20poached%20up%20a%20batch%20of%20them%20in%20Lambrusco.%20It's%20true%20I%20may%20have%20technically%20stolen%20those%20figs,%20but%20I%20prefer%20the%20term%20'urban%20foraged'.%20Or%20better%20yet%E2%80%93%20'double%20poached'.%20HA!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell%20guess%20what?%20It's%20happened%20again.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20in%20your%20infinite%20wisdom%20have%20given%20me%20one%20more%20week%20to%20prove%20myself%20in%20this%20contest.%20I%20am%20advancing%20to%20Challenge%20%233!%20Now%20I%20am%20not%20one%20to%20mess%20with%20success.%20So%20just%20in%20case%20the%20sweet%20treats%20from%20last%20week%20had%20any%20influence%20on%20your%20decision,%20%20I%20thought%20I%20better%20whip%20up%20something%20dark,%20rich%20and%20chocolatey.%20I%20mean%20why%20tempt%20fate?%20What%20if%20it's%20the%20sweets%20you%20like,%20and%20not%20really%20me?%20See%20my%20point?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBesides%20you%20like%20chocolate%20don't%20you?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell%20these%20cookies%20are%20all%20about%20chocolate.%20They%20are%20made%20with%20chocolate%20ganache%20in%20the%20dough,%20making%20them%20rich%20and%20moist.%20I%20saw%20a%20version%20of%20this%20cookie%20at%20Small%20Pleasures%20Catering%20Blog.%20Gisele%20made%20these%20for%20a%20special%20event.%20Special%20events%20are%20what%20she%20does,%20and%20this%20news%20is%20special%20to%20me%20so%20it%20seemed%20like%20the%20right%20time%20to%20give%20this%20recipe%20a%20try.%20She%20believes%20these%20cookies%20may%20have%20originally%20come%20from%20Gourmet%20Magazine%20a%20couple%20of%20decades%20ago,%20and%20have%20been%20adapted%20and%20amended%20by%20cooks%20ever%20since.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20that%20tradition,%20I%20took%20her%20version%20which%20had%20orange%20liqueur%20and%20chili%20powder%20in%20it%20and%20adapted%20it%20to%20fit%20what%20I%20had%20in%20the%20pantry.%20I%20made%20mine%20with%20dried%20cherries%20and%20Amaretto.%20Same%20cookie,%20slightly%20different%20flavor%20palate!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20unlike%20last%20week's%20figs%20there%20was%20no%20'urban%20foraging'%20involved%20this%20time.%20Figs%20may%20grow%20on%20trees,%20but%20dried%20cherries%20come%20from%20the%20store%20(at%20least%20in%20my%20life)%20where%20foraging%20is%20indeed%20'stealing'.%20So%20I%20paid%20cash!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThanks!%20Now%20who%20wants%20to%20come%20to%20a%20dinner%20party?%20It's%20on%20to%20Challenge%20%233...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20metal%20bowl%20set%20over%20a%20saucepan%20of%20simmering%20water%20melt%20the%20unsweetened%20chocolate,%201%201/2%20cups%20of%20the%20chocolate%20chips,%20and%20the%20butter,%20stirring%20until%20the%20mixture%20is%20smooth,%20and%20remove%20the%20bowl%20from%20the%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl%20stir%20together%20the%20flour,%20the%20baking%20powder,%20and%20the%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20bowl%20beat%20the%20eggs%20and%20the%20sugar%20with%20an%20electric%20mixer%20until%20the%20mixture%20is%20thick%20and%20pale%20and%20beat%20in%20the%20cocoa%20powder%20and%20the%20Amaretto.%20Fold%20the%20chocolate%20mixture%20into%20the%20egg%20mixture,%20fold%20in%20the%20flour%20mixture,%20and%20stir%20in%20the%20dried%20cherries.%20The%20dough%20will%20be%20quite%20wet,%20almost%20like%20cake%20batter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECover%20the%20dough%20with%20plastic%20wrap%20pressed%20against%20the%20mixture%20and%20refrigerate%20at%20least%203%20hours,%20or%20overnight.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees%20F.%20Using%20a%20small%20scoop%20form%20the%20dough%20into%201%201/2%20inch%20balls%20and%20place%20on%20a%20parchment%20lined%20cookie%20sheet,%20about%202-inches%20apart.%20Bake%20the%20cookies%2010-12%20minutes,%20or%20until%20they%20are%20puffed%20and%20shiny%20and%20cracked%20on%20top.%20The%20should%20be%20very%20soft%20when%20they%20come%20out%20of%20the%20oven.%20Let%20the%20cookies%20cool%20on%20the%20baking%20sheets,%20transfer%20them%20to%20racks,%20and%20let%20them%20cool%20completely.%20They%20will%20firm%20up%20as%20they%20cool,%20and%20are%20even%20better%20the%20next%20day.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESerious%20Fun%20Food%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGreg%20Henry%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESippity%20Sup%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
