,%20I%20bet%20you%20know%20what%20scene%20I%20found%20so%20hilarious.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYes,%20it%20was%20the%20suave%20Alec%20Baldwin%20seduction%20scene%20with%20strategically%20placed%20laptop.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEnough%20said.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThanks,%20France,%20for%20hosting%20this%20month.%20%20%20I%20needed%20that%20laugh.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20know%20that%20I%20will%20not%20be%20the%20only%20one%20mesmerized%20by%20Meryl%20Streep%E2%80%99s%20character.%20%20%20%20Jane%20Adler%20is%20a%20beautiful%20%E2%80%9Cwoman-of-a-certain-age%E2%80%9D%20who%20has%20seemingly%20triumphed%20after%20her%20divorce.%20%20%20So%20much%20so,%20that%20she%20is%20still%20on%20good%20terms%20with%20her%20ex,%20Jake%20Adler%20(played%20by%20Alec%20Baldwin).%20%20%20That%20leads%20to%20the%20complication%20of%20the%20title.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20simple,%20lovely%20meal%20of%20tossed%20salad%20and%20Croque%20Monsieur.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20adding%20on%20and%20remodeling%20her%20house,%20she%20meets%20a%20funny%20and%20dashing%20architect,%20Adam%20(played%20by%20Steve%20Martin).%20%20%20%20%20It%20is%20the%20scene%20of%20one%20of%20their%20first%20dates%20that%20inspired%20me%20for%20this%20post.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20really%20don%E2%80%99t%20know%20why%20she%20was%20remodeling%20this%20kitchen.%20Doesn%E2%80%99t%20it%20look%20perfect?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20know%20I%20will%20not%20be%20the%20only%20one%20that%20was%20inspired%20to%20make%20Croque%20Monsieur,%20the%20dish%20that%20she%20whips%20up%20for%20Adam.%20%20%20%20Jane%20says%20that%20she%20learned%20to%20make%20this%20dish%20during%20her%20younger%20days%20in%20Paris%20because%20it%20was%20cheap.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20beg%20to%20differ%20with%20her.%20%20%20After%20I%20bought%20blocks%20of%20Gruyere%20and%20Parmesan%20and%20sliced%20Virginia%20Ham,%20I%20had%20about%20twenty-five%20bucks%20in%20this%20%E2%80%9Ccheap%E2%80%9D%20meal.%20%20%20But,%20it%20was%20worth%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20found%20a%20good%20recipe%20from%20Ina%20Garten%20at%20FoodNetwork.%20%20%20%20You%20can%20find%20it%20here.%20%20%20The%20only%20change%20I%20made%20to%20the%20recipe%20was%20to%20use%20smoked%20Gruyere.%20%20%20%20Ina%E2%80%99s%20recipe%20called%20for%20%E2%80%9Cwhite%20bread%20slices,%E2%80%9D%20but%20it%20looked%20to%20me%20like%20Jane%20used%20French%20bread%20for%20her%20recipe%20in%20the%20film.%20%20%20%20I%20decided%20to%20make%20my%20own%20bread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20warm%20water%20and%20yeast%20in%20bowl%20of%20a%20stand%20mixer.%20%20%20In%20a%20small%20bowl,%20combine%20the%20oil,%20sugar,%20and%20salt.%20%20%20Stir%20well.%20%20Add%20oil%20mixture%20to%20yeast%20water.%20%20%20%20Add%20dough%20hook%20and%20mix%20in%20flour,%20one%20cup%20at%20a%20time%20until%20a%20stiff%20dough%20forms.%20%20%20Knead%20with%20dough%20hook%20for%2010%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECoat%20a%20large%20bowl%20with%20oil.%20%20%20Place%20dough%20in%20bowl,%20turning%20once%20to%20oil%20top.%20%20%20Cover%20with%20a%20clean%20cloth%20and%20let%20rise%20in%20a%20warm%20place%20for%2060%20minutes%20or%20until%20doubled.%20%20%20%20Turn%20dough%20onto%20a%20floured%20surface%20and%20roll%20into%20a%206%20x%2012%20rectangle.%20%20%20Roll%20up%20like%20a%20jelly%20roll%20and%20shape%20into%20a%20loaf.%20%20%20Pinch%20and%20shape%20ends.%20%20%20%20Place%20on%20an%20oiled%20baking%20sheet%20or%20silicon%20pad.%20%20%20Brush%20the%20top%20of%20the%20loaf%20with%20water.%20%20%20%20Cut%201/4-inch%20slashes%20along%20the%20top%20of%20the%20loaf.%20%20%20Allow%20to%20rise%20uncovered%20for%2060%20minutes%20or%20until%20doubled.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20a%20pan%20of%20hot%20water%20in%20the%20oven%20on%20a%20bottom%20rack%20and%20preheat%20oven%20to%20400%20degrees.%20%20%20After%20loaf%20rises,%20bake%20for%2010%20minutes.%20%20%20Brush%20with%20water%20again%20and%20bake%20another%2020%20minutes%20or%20until%20bread%20is%20golden%20brown%20on%20top%20and%20sounds%20hollow%20when%20tapped.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20recipe%20can%20easily%20be%20doubled.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Sorry,%20I%20spaced%20and%20didn%E2%80%99t%20snap%20a%20pic%20of%20the%20finished%20loaf.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDuring%20my%20bachelorette%20days%20last%20week%20(The%20Hubs%20was%20working%20out%20of%20state),%20I%20made%20this%20for%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20%E2%80%9Calone%20night%E2%80%9D%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20some%20cheese%20sauce%20and%20Gruyere%20left%20over%20from%20my%20dinner,%20so%20the%20next%20morning,%20I%20made%20Croque%20Monsieur%20again%20for%20breakfast.%20%20%20This%20time,%20I%20used%20only%20one%20slice%20of%20bread,%20toasted%20it,%20topped%20it%20with%20Dijon,%20ham,%20cheese%20and%20a%20fried%20egg%20before%20putting%20the%20cheese%20sauce%20on%20top%20and%20broiling%20it%20a%20bit.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBreakfast.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20to%20say%20that%20I%20really%20liked%20this%20dish%20without%20the%20top%20slice%20of%20bread.%20%20%20%20It%20was%20a%20great%20breakfast.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStill%20having%20some%20more%20cheese%20sauce%20left,%20I%20made%20this%20again%20when%20The%20Hubs%20got%20home%20for%20another%20dinner.%20%20%20Again,%20%20I%20only%20used%20one%20slice%20of%20bread%20on%20the%20bottom.%20%20%20%20It%20is%20a%20bit%20more%20manageable%20and%20not%20quite%20so%20filling%20(if%20that%20is%20possible).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20second%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20will%20definitely%20be%20making%20this%20again!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThanks%20to%20France%20and%20Beyond%20the%20Peel%20for%20hosting%20this%20month.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext%20month,%20The%20Law%20Student%E2%80%99s%20Cookbook%20will%20be%20hosting%20Attack%20of%20the%20Killer%20Tomatoes.%20%20%20%20I%20haven%E2%80%99t%20seen%20that%20since%20college%20and%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20wait%20to%20re-watch%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20now%20for%20something%20somewhat%20unrelated:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20I%20have%20a%20star%20sighting,%20you%20will%20be%20the%20first%20to%20know!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
