%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eok...%20they're%20kind%20of%20frightening%20looking...%20definitely%20'home%20made'.%20I%20like%20it%20like%20that%20though%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHow%20to%20make%20a%20hand%20pie...%20I%20would%20have%20called%20my%20mom%20for%20her%20fantastical%20hippie%20day%20recipe%20but%20she%20was%20on%20her%20way%20home%20so%20I%20had%20to%20search%20my%20resources.%20Aka%20I%20googled%20it%20and%20came%20across%20a%20lovely%20blog%20called%20Tiny%20Morsels%20that%20I%20am%20currently%20thoroughly%20enjoying.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20did%20a%20little%20modification%20on%20the%20recipe%20to%20make%20it%20vegan%20but%20other%20than%20that,%20it's%20all%20her%20and%20thank%20you%20for%20some%20great%20inspiration!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENeed:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDo:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20together%20the%20flours,%20salt%20and%20sugar.%20Using%20a%20pastry%20cutter,%20cut%20in%20the%201/2%20cup%20Earth%20Balance%20to%20create%20a%20crumbly%20texture.%20Add%20the%20tablespoons%20of%20ice%20water%20two%20at%20a%20time,%20mixing%20lightly%20in%20between.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20your%20dough%20forms,%20combine%20well%20and%20form%20into%20a%20ball.%20Wrap%20that%20ball%20in%20plastic%20wrap%20or%20put%20it%20in%20a%20sealed%20container%20and%20refrigerate%20for%20at%20least%201/2%20hour,%20if%20not%20an%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20apples:%20slice%20into%20very%20thin%20strips,%20put%20them%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20add%20the%20lemon%20juice,%20brown%20sugar,%20cinnamon%20and%20nutmeg.%20Mix%20well%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20your%20dough%20is%20done,%20preheat%20the%20oven%20to%20375%20and%20pull%20out%20your%20dough.%20Cut%20it%20in%20half,%20then%20fourths,%20then%20eights.%20One%20at%20a%20time,%20roll%20out%20the%20dough%20pieces%20into%20an%20oval-ish%20shape%20that%20is%20a%20little%20less%20than%201/4%20inch%20thick.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20one%20half,%20layer%20about%205%20or%206%20apple%20slices%20so%20they're%20kind%20of%20stacked%20like%20stairs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECover%20them%20with%20the%20other%20half%20of%20the%20dough%20and%20crimp%20the%20edges.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20a%20knife,%20create%20three%20or%20four%20vent%20holes%20in%20the%20tops%20of%20your%20pies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPop%20them%20in%20the%20oven%20for%2020-25%20minutes%20until%20they're%20toasty%20brown%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPut%20them%20in%20a%20tupperware%20container%20for%20a%20picnic%20surprise%20or%20serve%20them%20right%20away.%20They%20would%20be%20great%20with%20some%20soy%20delicious%20vanilla%20ice%20cream%20or%20all%20by%20themselves,%20while%20you're%20standing%20over%20the%20sink,%20shoving%20it%20in%20your%20mouth%20because%20they're%20that%20good!%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEnjoy!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
