About me
I always wanted a million dollar family, but who knew I'd be lucky enough to have a 1.5 million dollar one!?! I am the proud mother of two boys and one precious princess and the wife to one amazing man, who also happens to be my best friend! I love spending time with my family (well...most of them) and enjoy cooking and baking. I enjoy watching movies, and playing World of Warcraft.
I've worked in and out of the hospitality and food industry since I was 16 years old, aside from the short time I worked as a call center agent (YUCK!) and at a cheque cashing place (DOUBLE YUCK!). I once was a model with Cameo Models (Waterloo) and Blast Models (Toronto) but decided that I didn't enjoy my Toronto agent screwing me over and quit. I currently am an apprentice, working towards my goal to earn my Red Seal in the Culinary Field. I work at The Walper Hotel, and love my job! My husband and I have aspirations to open a catering business and restaurant (or maybe an Irish Pub!!!).
I have worked at several restuarants over the years, but I feel most at home at the hotel doing large quantity cooking for banquets. I can't say that I miss "a la carte" cooking that much, but at the same time there was a certain joy that I found in preparing a dish, and working harder to make each one better than the last.
Cooking Influences
My training was classic French, and as such, most of my repetoire reflects that. I enjoy making cultural dishes, especially those that are Irish and Dutch. I draw influence from chefs that put the food first, creating dishes that are simple and showcase the true taste of the food....less is more. I draw influences from Chef Gordon Ramsay, Chef Mark McEwan, Chef Thomas Keller, Chef Joel Robuchon and my kids.
