%20chatting,%20playing%20games,%20and%20(of%20course)%20eating.%20As%20it%20is%20the%20annual%20vacation%20(6%20years%20running),%20we%20quickly%20and%20pretty%20seamlessly%20turn%20to%20a%20routine.%20There's%20an%20early-morning%20walk%20to%20the%20nearby%20store%20for%20a%20muffin%20or%20donut,%20known%20as%20pre-breakfast.%20Then%20once%20Auntie%20Amy%20is%20up,%20she%20makes%20the%20real%20breakfast,%20usually%20eggs,%20bacon,%20sausage,%20and%20English%20muffins,%20or%20perhaps%20a%20frittata%20made%20of%20leftovers%20from%20the%20night%20before.%20Eschewing%20big%20lunches%20for%20quick%20right-off-the-beach%20snacks,%20we%20leave%20room%20for%20big%20family%20dinners,%20and%20these%20are%20the%20most%20fun.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Ocean%20Roll%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMenu%20at%20The%20Ocean%20Roll%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20we%20often%20cook%20these%20dinners,%20for%20example%20grilling%20steaks%20one%20night%20and%20pizzas%20another,%20it%20is%20Maine%20and%20that%20means%20seafood.%20So%20we'd%20love%20to%20tell%20you%20about%20our%20new%20discovery%20-%20The%20Ocean%20Roll.%20An%20antique%20truck%20located%20next%20to%20an%20antiques%20shop%20on%20Route%201%20(Portland%20Road),%20Kennebunk,%20this%20truck%20is%20Maine%20on%20wheels.%20To%20start%20with,%20the%20food%20truck%20is%20part%20of%20Maine's%20history,%20as%20it%20was%20originally%20built%20as%20the%20canteen%20for%20the%20Maine%20Civil%20Defense.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFried%20Clam%20Box%20and%20Hot%20Lobster%20Roll%20at%20The%20Ocean%20Roll%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20two%20of%20us%20stopped%20in%20for%20lunch%20on%20Saturday%20and%20then%20the%20whole%20family%20got%20take-out%20for%20dinner%20Sunday%20night.%20Yeah,%20it%20was%20that%20good.%20Lobster%20salad%20rolls,%20or%20the%20Amy-preferred%20hot%20buttered%20lobster%20rolls%20were%20packed%20with%20fresh%20lobster%20meat.%20Whole%20belly%20clams%20were%20lightly%20battered%20and%20fried%20to%20a%20perfect%20golden%20brown.%20The%20cole%20slaw%20was%20creamy,%20crunchy%20and%20well-seasoned.%20The%20service,%20friendly%20and%20welcoming.%20And%20the%20truck%20is%20just....cool.%20Compared%20to%20the%20super-touristy%20and%20rather%20expensive%20Clam%20Shack%20in%20downtown%20Kennebunkport,%20we%20think%20The%20Ocean%20Roll%20is%20twice%20as%20good%20at%20half%20the%20price.%20We%20highly%20recommend%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnnual%20Family%20Vacation%20Lobster%20Feast%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20yeah,%20we%20had%20seafood%20two%20days%20in%20a%20row.%20That%20didn't%20mean%20that%20by%20Wednesday,%20we%20weren't%20ready%20for%20more.%20Wednesday%20was%20our%20traditional%20lobster-n-steamers%20night,%20when%20we%20order%20steamed%20lobsters%20and%20clams%20from%20Wolff%20Farm%20&%20Lobster.%20They%20steam%20them%20for%20us,%20and%20we%20eat%20them%20up%20-%20a%20pound%20of%20steamers%20and%20two%20lobsters%20each.%20It's%20a%20feast%20fit%20for%20a%20family%20vacation,%20and%20we%20look%20forward%20to%20the%20%22lobster-eating%20orgy%22%20every%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20you%20would%20think%20after%20all%20this%20we%20would%20have%20had%20our%20fill%20of%20the%20crustacean%20for%20which%20Maine%20is%20famous,%20but%20wait!%20There's%20more!%20On%20our%20drive%20home,%20as%20we%20always%20do,%20the%20two%20of%20us%20stopped%20by%20Sanders%20Lobster%20Company%20in%20the%20Strawbery%20Banke%20section%20of%20Portsmouth,%20NH%20to%20buy%20more.%20Yeah,%20we%20did.%20We%20pass%20the%20fish%20market%20and%20go%20directly%20to%20the%20docks%20where%20we%20can%20find%20culls%20(small%20lobsters,%20often%20-%20but%20not%20always!%20-%20missing%20one%20claw)%20for%20$3.99%20a%20pound.%20This%20year%20we%20had%20some%20restraint.%20We%20bought%206%20culls%20and%203%20pounds%20of%20steamers%20that%20they%20packed%20in%20some%20ice%20for%20us%20and%20we%20cooked%20up%20and%20gobbled%20down%20when%20we%20got%20home.%20After%20all,%20a%20good%20vacation%20doesn't%20end%20when%20you%20leave.%20So%20here's%20to%20lobster,%20Maine,%20New%20England,%20summer,%20vacation,%20and%20most%20of%20all,%20family.%20We%20love%20you%20all!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMore%20lobster%20at%20home%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
