- 1 1/2 cups sugar (I used superfine sugar because I had some on hand)
- 2 - 3 cups vodka and brandy (I used enough to fill my containers in a 3:1 (respectively) ratio)

%20%231%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPS%20-%20Let%20me%20put%20the%20post%20script%20at%20the%20beginning,%20so%20I%20can%20convince%20you%20to%20give%20this%20a%20try.%20%20It's%20now%20December;%20I%20left%20my%20jars%20of%20Wisniak%20undisturbed%20for%20months%20and%20months.%20%20My%20patience%20has%20been%20rewarded!%20%20I%20just%20now%20strained%20out%20the%20cherries;%20the%20liqueur%20left%20behind%20is%20dark,%20fruity,%20sweet,%20and%20smooth.%20%20I%20will%20make%20much%20more%20next%20summer%20when%20cherries%20are%20in%20season.%20%20It's%20so%20wonderful,%20that%20I%20want%20to%20share%20it%20with%20everyone%20I%20know!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPopular%20all%20over%20Eastern%20Europe,%20I've%20been%20served%20this%20liqueur%20as%20an%20after%20dinner%20drink%20in%20Polish%20restaurants.%20%20That%20happened%20recently%20on%20a%20trip%20to%20Lodz,%20on%20the%20very%20day%20that%20I%20had%20just%20purchased%20cherries%20from%20a%20vendor%20in%20the%20pedestrian%20underpass.%20%20At%206.5%20zl%20per%20kilogram%20(about%20$1.10%20per%20pound)%20I%20couldn't%20pass%20them%20by.%20%20We%20ate%20the%20first%20kilogram,%20so%20I%20bought%20a%20second%20one%20to%20bring%20home%20and%20turn%20into%20Wisniak.%20I'm%20sure%20Ed%20could%20see%20the%20%22I%20can%20make%20this%22%20light%20bulb%20appear%20over%20my%20head%20as%20we%20sipped%20our%20cordials.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESimilar%20in%20taste%20to%20our%20Cherry%20La%20La%20(which%20is%20ready%20in%20a%20week%20rather%20than%20months),%20Wisniak%20is%20fruity%20and%20very%20smooth%20-%20an%20ideal%20way%20to%20end%20a%20meal.%20%20I've%20been%20told%20that%20if%20you%20make%20Wisniak%20when%20cherries%20first%20come%20into%20season,%20it%20reaches%20perfection%20in%20time%20for%20the%20holidays%20and%20should%20be%20served%20with%20a%20honey%20cake.%20%20I%20don't%20know%20if%20I'll%20be%20able%20to%20wait%20that%20long.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20all%20of%20the%20ingredients%20in%20sterile%20containers.%20(I%20submerged%20the%20jars%20and%20lids%20in%20boiling%20water%20for%2010%20minutes.)%20Make%20sure%20you%20have%20enough%20alcohol%20to%20cover%20the%20cherries.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStore%20the%20containers%20for%20%204%20to%206%20weeks,%20strain%20and%20re-bottle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAllow%20to%20age%202%20to%203%20months.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote:%20%20we%20attended%20a%20luncheon%20recently%20and%20were%20served%20a%20homemade,%20non-alcoholic%20cherry%20cordial.%20%20If%20cherries%20are%20still%20a%20bargain,%20I'm%20going%20to%20give%20this%20a%20try%20too.%20%20Non-alcoholic%20was%20very%20important%20in%20this%20case.%20%20The%20blood%20alcohol%20limit%20in%20Poland%20is%20.02%20and%20it's%20strictly%20enforced%20with%20penalties%20of%20up%20to%20two%20years%20in%20prison.%20%20So%20people%20who%20are%20driving%20just%20don't%20drink.%20%20Fortunately,%20for%20us%20and%20establishments%20serving%20liquor,%20the%20public%20transportation%20is%20excellent%20and%20taxis%20are%20very%20affordable.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWithin%20hours,%20osmosis%20has%20begun%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext%20week%20-%20a%20cold%20b%C3%B3b%20salad%20(fava%20bean,%20broad%20bean)%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
