Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound lean grnd beef
  • 1/3 c. minced onion
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 c. canned green chili peppers, rinsed, seeded & minced
  • 3 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon grnd cumin
  • 48 wonton skins (see recipe or possibly 48 packaged wonton skins)
  • Veg. oil or possibly shortening for deep-fat frying
  • Frzn avocado dip, thawed (optional)
  • Taco sauce (optional)

Directions

  1. For filling, cook beef, minced onion and chopped garlic till meat is brown and onion is tender. Drain off fat. Stir in minced chili peppers, tomato paste and grnd cumin. Fill each wonton skin with some of the beef filling according to the directions.
  2. Fry the wontons, a few at a time, in deep warm veg. oil or possibly shortening (365 degrees) for 2 to 3 min or possibly till golden. Use a slotted spoon or possibly wire strainer to remove the wontons. Drain on paper toweling. Serve the wontons hot with avocado dip or possibly taco sauce, if you like. Makes 48 appetizers.
