Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. Pillsbury BEST All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 lb cubed beef stew meat
  • 1 1/2 c. fresh baby carrots halved crosswise
  • 1 x 10-oz package fresh pearl onions peeled
  • 1 x 8-oz package small fresh whole mushrooms
  • 1 x garlic clove chopped
  • 1 x bay leaf
  • 1 x 10 1/2-oz can condensed beef consomm
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. red burgundy wine
  •     Fresh oregano if you like

Directions

  1. In 3 1/2 or possibly 4-qt slow cooker, combine flour, salt, pepper and beef; mix well. Add in all other ingredients; mix well.
  2. Cover; cook on LOW setting for 10 to 12 hrs or possibly till carrots and beef are tender. Garnish with oregano.
  3. 5 (1 2/3-c.) servings
  4. Kitchen Tips: To clean fresh mushrooms, wipe them with a damp paper towel. Don't immerse them in water. They're very absorbent and will become mushy.
  5. You can reduce the slow-cooking time for this recipe by starting the cooker on HIGH. Each hour of slow-cooking on HIGH reduces the total cooking time by about one hour.
  6. SERVING SIZE: 1-2/3 C.
