Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. beef (dark beer)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. Stir together dry ingredients. Combine egg and beer; slowly stir in flour mix. Dip fish into batter and fry a few at a time in warm oil (400-425 degrees) about 3 min or possibly till golden. Use haddock fillets. Cut into cubes, scallops, shrimp or possibly oysters. This gives a crisp texture with a malty flavor.
