Ingredients

  • 2 c. Roasted, chopped hazelnuts
  • 6 Tbsp. Butter or possibly margarine, or possibly a combination, at room temperature
  • 3 pkt (8-ounce) cream cheese, at room temperature, cut into 1/2-inch pcs
  • 6 x Large eggs
  • 1 pt Lowfat sour cream
  • 1/3 c. Sifted all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp. Orange juice
  • 3 Tbsp. Grated orange zest
  • 1 c. Chopped green onions
  • 1 1/2 c. Flaked smoked trout
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp White horseradish
  • 1/4 tsp White pepper

Directions

  1. Crust: Blend 1-1/2 c. of the hazelnuts in butter. Pat into the bottom of a 10-inch springform pan. Set aside.
  2. Filling: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place cheese in large bowl of electric mixer. Add in 1 egg at a time, mixing well after each addition. Fold in lowfat sour cream, flour, juice and orange zest. Blend mix till smooth.
  3. Fold in onions, smoked lake trout, salt, horseradish and pepper. Pour cheese mix into crust. Bake 1 hour. Turn off heat, leave cheesecake in oven another hour. Remove from oven and allow to cold. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 c. of hazelnuts over top of cake. Chill overnight before serving.
  4. Remove cake from pan. Cut into thin slices and serve.
  5. Makes 10-12 servings.
  6. Chill OVERNIGHT
