Sausage Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 (28 ounce.) Hunt's whole tomatoes
  • 1 (8 ounce.) Hunt's tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 ounce.) Hunt's tomato paste
  • 1 whole onion
  • 1/2 green bell pepper
  • 4 ounce. sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 4 ounce. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 c. fresh parsley
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Saute/fry garlic in oil. Add in sausage (casings removed). Brown, drain fat, set aside.
  2. Add in tomato sauce and paste. Add in sausage to this. Cook over medium heat for 15 min. Add in remaining ingredients except cheese. Simmer 15 min. Add in cheese a little at a time till dissolved. Simmer 1 1/2 hrs. Remove green pepper and onion. Salt to taste. Serve over pasta with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
