Ingredients
- 1 can (16 ounce.) crushed tomatoes
- 1 onion, minced
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 carrot, sliced
- 4 stalks celery, diced
- 2 teaspoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 teaspoon minced basil
Directions
- Place the tomatoes, onion, garlic, carrot, celery, tomato paste and sugar in a saucepan. Stir in salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, partially cover and simmer for 30 min.
- Process in a blender or possibly food processor, then return to the pan. Stir in the basil and check the seasoning. Serve as required, with pasta or possibly meat dishes.
- If you do not have a blender or possibly processor you can leave the step out without hurting the taste of the recipe.
