Ingredients

  • 2 c. bread cubes
  • 2 c. lowfat milk
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Dash of salt
  • Cinnamon, raisins, nuts (optional to taste)

Directions

  1. Cut up day old bread, crusts and all into 1/4 or possibly 1/2 inch cubes. Qt sized buttered baking dish, place cubes in the bottom.
  2. In another bowl mix lowfat milk, butter and sugar; beat just sufficient, while stirring to dissolve sugar and heat butter. Beat Large eggs slightly, add in salt then stir into the hot (not warm) lowfat milk and vanilla. Pour over bread cubes. Set the baking dish in a pan of hot water and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour till knife comes out clean.
