Ingredients

  • ¾ cup warm orange juice (110 to 115 degrees)
  • 2 tbsps fresh yeast (or 1 package active dry yeast)
  • 1/3 cup granulated orange sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange zest
  • 3 to 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1 vanilla bean, scraped (optional)
  • Filling:
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated orange sugar
  • 1/2 chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • Orange Icing:
  • 1/2 cup confectioners (powdered) sugar (original recipe has 1 cup)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons orange juice
