Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 c. yellow cornmeal
  • 2/3 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 c. wheat germ
  • 2 tbsp. sesame seed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp. soy grits (optional)
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 c. veg. oil
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Directions

  1. Stir together cornmeal, flour, wheat germ, sesame seed, soy grits, baking pwdr, baking soda, and salt. Beat together egg and veg. oil; add in buttermilk. Stir buttermilk mix into dry ingredients, blending till moistened. Turn into one greased 9x9x2 inch cast iron skillet. Bake in oven for 25 min at 400 degrees.
