%20corporate%20restaurant%20chain%E2%80%99s%20tagline%20%E2%80%9CWhen%20you%E2%80%99re%20here,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eyou%E2%80%99re%20family%E2%80%9D,%20ad%20nauseam.%20%20This%20claim%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%80%9CYES!%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20perusing%20the%20net%20to%20plan%20our%20trip%20to%20the%20annual%20Philadelphia%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFlower%20Show,%20we%20came%20across%20what%20seemed%20to%20be%20a%20unique%20eatery%20called%20Miss%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERachel%E2%80%99s%20Pantry.%20Located%20in%20South%20Philly,%20Miss%20Rachel%E2%80%99s%20Pantry%20offers%20an%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eeclectic%20variety%20of%20vegan%20fair%20that%E2%80%99s%20certified%20kosher.%20During%20the%20day,%20Miss%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERachel%20offers%20%20%20various%20specials%20to%20be%20picked%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eup.%20%20After%20reading%20about%20what%20Miss%20Rachel%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edoes,%20Mac%20was%20enthusiastic%20about%20trying%20to%20get%20reservations%20for%20us.%20When%202%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eseats%20were%20available,%20Miss%20Rachel,%20AKA%20Rachel%20Klein,%20reached%20out%20to%20us%20and%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edate%20was%20set.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEvery%20Saturday%20evening%20at%207:00%20PM,%20Miss%20Rachel%20brings%20together%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E12%20people%20at%20a%20%E2%80%9CFarmhouse%20Table%20Dinner%E2%80%9D%20offering%20an%20diverse%20four-course%20pre-fixe%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emenu%20that%20changes%20every%20week.%20Yes,%20you%E2%80%99ll%20most%20likely%20be%20sitting%20with%20folks%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethat%20you%E2%80%99ve%20never%20met%20before.%20%20It%20turns%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eout%20that%20our%20table%20had%20a%20very%20nice%20group%20of%20people;%20some%20whom%20were%20vegans,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eothers%20not.%20Our%20conversations%20were%20pleasant%20and%20not%20forced,%20flowing%20across%20many%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etopics%20from%20veganism,%20art,%20charter%20schools%20and%20crazy%20Philly%20stuff%20like%20The%20Wing%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBowl%20and%20the%20Vegan%20Wing%20Bowl%20(which%20isn%E2%80%99t%20as%20vile%20or%20full%20of%20debauchery%20as%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eformer).%20The%20topics%20wafted%20throughout%20the%20evening%20like%20the%20amazing%20aromas%20of%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMiss%20Rachel%E2%80%99s%20Pantry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20Saturday%20Night's%20Menu%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBefore%20the%20meal,%20our%20table%20was%20offered%20two%20baskets%20of%20delicious%20grilled%20bread%20with%20a%20savory%20thyme%20spread%20(don%E2%80%99t%20tell%20anyone%20that%20I%20ate%205%20pieces,%20shhhh!).%20%20Since%20you%E2%80%99re%20allowed%20one%20of%20two%20items%20from%20each%20course,%20Macaroon%20and%20I%20decided%20to%20simply%20order%20both%20and%20share%20with%20each%20other.%20Most%20of%20our%20fellow%20dining%20couples%20did%20the%20same%20thing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlbeit%20everything%20was%20delicious,%20I%20was%20particularly%20fond%20of%20the%20barbeque%20seitan%20tips%20atop%20creamy%20edamame%20puree%20and%20the%20hearty%20potato%20chowder%20with%20coconut%20bacon.%20Mac%20fell%20in%20love%20with%20the%20tempeh%20Bolognese%20lasagna%20with%20layers%20of%20spinach%20&%20cashew%20ricotta%20and%20the%20SINFULLY%20delicious%20cookies%20and%20cream%20ice%20cream%20cake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMacaroon%20put%20together%20a%20little%20slideshow%20of%20our%20lovely%20meal.%20We%20apologize%20in%20advance%20for%20any%20excessive%20salavation!%20LOL%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20waitress,%20Sally,%20originally%20from%20Brooklyn,%20was%20very%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eattentive%20and%20courteous%20and%20made%20some%20humorous%20observations.%20When%20she%20handed%20us%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebill,%20it%20was%20secreted%20in%20a%20vintage%20copy%20of%20Good%20Housekeeping!%20Before%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eguests%20left,%20Miss%20Rachel%20came%20out%20(to%20applause)%20and%20humbly%20asked%20how%20everything%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewent.%20It%E2%80%99s%20comforting%20to%20know%20that%20there%20are%20still%20restaurant%20owners%20who%20take%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epride%20in%20their%20business.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWould%20we%20schlep%20all%20the%20way%20down%20the%20NJ%20Turnpike%20to%20eat%20at%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMiss%20Rachel%E2%80%99s%20Pantry%20again?%20The%20answer%20is%20yes.%20Her%20hospitality%20and%20great%20food%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emade%20us%20feel%20like%20family.%20And,%20like%20a%20devoted%20family%20members,%20we%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emiss%20out%20on%20the%20fun.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMiss%20Rachel's%20Pantry%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1732%20W%20Passyunk%20Ave.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPhiladelphia%20PA,%2019145%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(215)%20798-0053%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewww.missrachelspantry.com%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20a%20note:%20Reservations%20are%20required%20for%20the%20weekly%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFarmhouse%20Dinner%20Table.%20Be%20sure%20to%20book%20your%20spot%20in%20time!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
