Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 4 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 scant c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 3/4 c. walnuts, broken

Directions

  1. Sift together flour, baking pwdr, salt and sugar. Beat the egg and add in the lowfat milk to the egg. Add in the egg mix to the sifted dry ingredients. Beat well. Dough will be stiff. Add in the walnuts. Bake in 1 (9 1/2 x 5 1/4 inch) loaf pan or possibly in 2 (8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch) loaf pans, well greased. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min to 1 hour. Remove from pans while warm and if you like, spread butter on top and sides to keep crust soft. Slice thinly.
