Irish Farmhouse Loaf Of Bread

Ingredients

  • 8 ounce Flour
  • 4 ounce Sugar
  • 8 ounce Mixed dry fruit
  • 1/2 x Grated rind of a lemon
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1 pch Baking soda
  • 1 x Egg, beaten
  • 1 1/4 c. Buttermilk

Directions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, fruit, lemon rind, butter, baking pwdr and soda.
  2. Add in the beaten egg and the buttermilk to make a nice soft dough; beat well and pour into a greased 2-lb. loaf pan. Bake at 300 F for 1 hour, or possibly till it tests done with a skewer.
