Highlands Ranch Turkey Run

The loud-speaker instructed everyone to get lined up for the start of the race. Runners in the front, walkers next, baby strollers and pets at the back. (There were a lot of us baby stroller and pet participants – and I must say, we were the most fun section). Join me for a photo journey for the Highlands Ranch Turkey Run.

.%20%20Join%20me%20for%20a%20photo%20journey%20for%20the%20Highlands%20Ranch%20Turkey%20Run.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHappy%20Thanksgiving!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99d%20like%20to%20introduce%20you%20to%20our%20little%204%20pound%20Yorkshire%20Terrier.%20%20Her%20name%20is%20Zia,%20we%20call%20her%20%20Z.%20%20This%20morning%20at%207:00%20we%20headed%20over%20to%20Shea%20Stadium%20in%20Highlands%20Ranch%20along%20with%20about%202,000%20other%20neighbors%20and%20who%20knows%20how%20many%20dog%20neighbors%20to%20participate%20in%20our%20Highlands%20Ranch%20Turkey%20Run.%20%20Proceeds%20benefit%20the%20Colorado%20National%20Guard%20Foundations,%20to%20help%20our%20military%20families.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGetting%20Z%E2%80%99s%20coat%20on.%20%20Race%20time%20temperature%20was%20a%20crisp%2036%20degrees.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGreg,%20Me%20and%20Z.%20%20Found%20our%20friend%20Greg.%20%20He%E2%80%99s%20the%20one%20who%20got%20me%20the%20Vail%20Pulled%20Pork%20Recipe.%20%20You%20can%20revisit%20that%20post%20HERE.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20Little%20Community%20Banner%20on%20a%20light%20pole.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20loud-speaker%20instructed%20everyone%20to%20get%20lined%20up%20for%20the%20start%20of%20the%20race.%20%20Runners%20in%20the%20front,%20walkers%20next,%20baby%20strollers%20and%20pets%20at%20the%20back.%20%20(There%20were%20a%20lot%20of%20us%20baby%20stroller%20and%20pet%20participants%20%E2%80%93%20and%20I%20must%20say,%20we%20were%20the%20most%20fun%20section).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20we%E2%80%99re%20OFF.%20%20We%20first%20head%20east%20into%20the%20%E2%80%9Chood%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20race%20wound%20through%20our%20local%20neighborhoods.%20%20You%20can%20see%20the%20front%20range%20of%20the%20Rocky%20Mountains%20in%20the%20background%20with%20a%20couple%20of%20snow-covered%20peaks%20behind.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurning%20west%20now%20along%20Highlands%20Ranch%20Parkway%20and%20as%20you%20can%20see%20in%20the%20distance,%20we%E2%80%99ll%20be%20turning%20back%20north%20through%20our%20open%20space.%20%20We%E2%80%99re%20now%20half%20way.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMontana%20ain%E2%80%99t%20got%20nothing%20on%20us,%20look%20at%20our%20big%20sky.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20how%20about%20that%20view%20of%20Mt.%20Evans.%20%20Breathtaking%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%E2%80%99re%20getting%20close%20to%20the%20end%20now.%20%20The%20finish%20line%20is%20just%20on%20the%20horizon.%20%20Those%20two%20dark%20jagged%20peaks%20in%20the%20center%20in%20the%20distance%20are%20the%20Flatirons%20of%20Boulder.%20%20We%E2%80%99re%20south%20of%20Denver,%20Boulder%20is%20Northwest%20of%20Denver.%20%20Those%20flatirons%20are%2037.89%20miles%20away%20from%20where%20I%E2%80%99m%20standing%20(as%20the%20crow%20flies).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20don%E2%80%99t%20know%20why%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20take%20a%20photo%20of%20the%20finish%E2%80%A6honest,%20both%20me%20and%20Z%20made%20it%20all%20the%20way.%20%20As%20I%20was%20walking%20I%20felt%20so%20thankful%20for%20my%20health%20and%20to%20be%20able%20to%20walk%20in%20the%20event%20on%20this%20beautiful%20day%20filled%20with%20sunshine,%20neighbors,%20fresh%20air%20and%20views%20of%20the%20Rocky%20Mountains.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20probably%20burned%20around%20500%20of%20the%2025,000,000%20calories%20I%E2%80%99ll%20consume%20over%20the%20next%20few%20days!%20%20Bring%20on%20the%20family,%20friends%20and%20turkey!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHappy%20Thanksgiving%20to%20you%20and%20your%20families!!!%20%20We%E2%80%99re%20thankful%20for%20those%20wonderful%20things%20in%20our%20lives%20that%20make%20each%20and%20every%20day%20special!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHighlands%20Ranch%20Turkey%20Run%E2%80%A6It%E2%80%99s%20What%E2%80%99s%20To%20Do%20On%20Thanksgiving%20Day%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
