Grilled Tuna Steaks With Mango Basil Relish Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 x eight-oz tuna steaks 3/4" to 1" thick Salt to taste Freshly-cracked black pepper to taste
  • 2 x mangos peeled, pitted, and diced into 1/4" cubes (pears may be substituted)
  • 1/2 x red bell pepper cored, seeded and diced into 1/4" cubes
  • 1/2 c. orange juice Juice of 2 limes - (abt 4 tbspns)
  • 1/4 c. minced fresh basil Salt to taste Freshly-cracked black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Mix together all relish ingredients and set aside.
  2. Rinse tuna under cool water, pat dry, salt and pepper to taste and brush lightly with vegetable oil. Over a medium warm fire, grill tuna 3 to 6 min per side, turning once, till just opaque throughout.
  3. Remove tuna from grill and serve each portion accompanied by several Tbsp. of the relish.
  4. This recipe yields 4 servings.
