Ingredients

  • 750 ml Dry Red Wine
  • 10 whl Cardamom Seeds
  • 3 x Strips Fresh Orange Rind
  • 5 whl Cloves
  • 1 x Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 c. Whole Blanched Almonds
  • 1 c. Dark Seedless Raisins
  • 1/2 lb Sugar Cubes
  • 1 1/2 c. Aquavit

Directions

  1. Pour wine into a Dutch oven or possibly kettle. Tie cardamom seeds, orange rind, cloves, and cinnamon stick in layers of cheesecloth; add in to kettle. Cover.
  2. Heat slowly to boiling; simmer 10 min. Add in almonds, raisins, and sugar cubes; stir vigorously. Simmer smother 5 min, stirring often to dissolve sugar. Add in aquavit; ladle while warm into mugs with a few almonds and raisins in each.
