%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20traveled%20to%20the%20Denver%20area%20on%20the%2021st%20to%20spend%20Christmas%20with%20the%20nieces%20and%20BiL.%20%20My%20most%20wonderful%20In-Laws%20were%20there%20as%20well.%20%20We%20had%20a%20great%20time%20packing%20in%20as%20much%20Minecraft,%20Kinect%20Sports%20(you%20can%20really%20get%20sore%20skiing),%20board%20games%20and%20Build-a-Bear%20as%20possible.%20%20We%20also%20celebrated%20the%20youngest%E2%80%99s%20birthday.%20%20%20Very%20festive%20time.%20%20As%20family%20tradition%20dictates,%20we%20did%20the%20traditional%20Christmas%20Eve%20Buffet%20before%20we%20opened%20gifts.%20%20%20%20A%20typical%20buffet%20includes%20cheese%20ball,%20marinated%20meat%20balls,%20little%20smokies%20in%20some%20fashion%20or%20another,%20onion%20dip,%20chips,%20sandwiches%20and%20fudge.%20%20There%20is%20also%20the%20secretive%20family%20punch%20recipe.%20%20(Even%20after%2018%20years%20of%20marriage,%20I%20still%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20the%20definitive%20recipe%20for%20this%20secretive%20holiday%20beverage.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20drove%20back%20home%20on%20Christmas%20day%20making%20it%20back%20before%20all%20the%20weather%20hit.%20%20%20My%20family%20arrived%20in%20full%20force%20on%20the%2026th.%20%20We%20celebrated%20in%20full%20force%20until%20they%20departed%20on%20New%20Year%E2%80%99s%20Eve%20day.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20they%20were%20here,%20I%20experimented%20with%20a%20number%20of%20new%20recipes.%20%20Just%20like%20my%20after-Thanksgiving-posts,%20I%20plan%20on%20sharing%20some%20of%20my%20new%20recipes%20with%20you%20here%20over%20the%20next%20few%20weeks.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFestive%20Quinoa%20Salad%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERinse%20quinoa%20well%20by%20placing%20it%20in%20a%20large%20sieve%20and%20rinsing%20under%20cold%20water.%20%20Place%20quinoa%20and%20water%20in%20a%20medium%20saucepan%20and%20bring%20to%20a%20boil.%20Reduce%20heat%20to%20low,%20cover%20and%20simmer%20until%20tender%20and%20most%20of%20the%20liquid%20has%20been%20absorbed,%2015%20to%2020%20minutes.%20%20Set%20aside%20and%20let%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20together%20the%20lemon%20juice,%20agave%20syrup,%20mustard,%20salt,%20paprika%20and%20pepper.%20%20%20Slowly%20whisk%20in%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOlives%20(in%20jar),%20dried%20tomatoes,%20red%20peppers,%20and%20artichokes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20mixing%20bowl,%20toss%20cooled%20quinoa%20with%20the%20lemon%20dressing.%20%20%20Toss%20in%20the%20artichokes,%20red%20pepper,%20olives%20and%20dried%20tomatoes.%20%20%20Serve.%20%20(But,%20this%20is%20better%20the%20next%20day!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20served%20this%20salad%20with%20Superbowl%20Sandwiches%20(recipe%20to%20come).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESome%20other%20recipes%20that%20will%20be%20featured%20from%20this%20week%20of%20Christmas%20celebrations%20include%20the%20following:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECannellini%20Baked%20Beans%20(with%20smoked%20pork%20butt)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EButternut-Andouille%20Sausage%20Soup%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHomemade%20Veggie%20Pizza%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGreen%20Chile%20Soup%20with%20Smoked%20Sausage%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20also%20had%20the%20obligatory%20Beouf%20for%20our%20after%20Christmas%20celebration.%20%20In%20fact,%20I%20recreated%20all%20the%20dishes%20from%20our%20Thanksgiving%20meal%20including%20the%20Pear%20and%20Kale%20Salad%20and%20Lemon-Pecan%20Tart.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
