Easy Tennessee "Fruit Cake"

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yellow cake mix
  • 1 (16 ounce.) crushed pineapple, in own juice. Don't drain.
  • 1 (16 ounce.) Comstock Pie Cherries
  • 1/4 pound butter

Directions

  1. Spread pineapple on bottom of large square or possibly 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Spread cherries over the pineapple.
  3. Sprinkle dry cake mix proportionately over cherry layer.
  4. Have butter very cool so it can be shaved over dry cake mix. (Put in plastic bag and set on ice cubes in icemaker. Then shave with a potato peeler.)
  5. Bake 25 min at 350 degrees or possibly till lightly browned.
  6. Variations...Use Comstock Strawberry or possibly Apple pie mix.
