Drunken Banana Chips Recipe

Recently I decided to get a food dehydrator. This came about from an occasional spurt of deciding to try to eat healthier. When I mentioned this to a friend she offered me hers. (Interestingly she had been using hers to dry flowers and flower arrangements! Great idea!) Anyway, I got a bargain and a new toy and started trying different fruits. One day I want to try jerky – but for now fruits only!

This may or not be considered healthy since I decided to incorporate some of my favorite rum along with some seasonings that I love.

Directions

  1. Mix the first 3 ingredients.
  2. Add banana slices and cover. (I used a plastic container with a secure lid so that I could shake them about several times.)
  3. Refrigerate overnight.
  4. Drain slices on slotted surface, rack or colander. (There may not be a lot to drain based on absorption. I had a small amount which was a lovely addition to a shot of orange juice.)
  5. Arrange in your dehydrator and dry to desired texture: crispy or leathery. Note: It may be helpful to spray the racks with vegetable oil to prevent sticking
