Ingredients

  • 5 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 2 tbsp. Crisco
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/2 pt. lowfat sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Healthy pinch of salt
  • 2 1/2 c. grnd walnuts
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • Jam or possibly lekvar

Directions

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking pwdr, baking soda, and salt. Add in Crisco and butter; add in egg yolks, lowfat sour cream, and vanilla. Divide dough into 3 portions. Roll out first layer as for pie; place in bottom of pan. Spread nuts and sugar mix on first layer. Roll out second layer; place over nuts. Spread this layer with jam or possibly lekvar; sprinkle a little of the nut and sugar mixtures over jam. Roll out third layer; cut into strips. Place on top to create lattice work. Bake for 25 min at 350 degrees.
