%20or%20high%20for%203-4%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOptional:%20stir%20occasionally%20(if%20cooking%20on%20high),%20and%20crack%20the%20lid%20slightly%20to%20allow%20some%20of%20the%20liquid%20to%20cook%20off%20in%20the%20last%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20incorporated%20a%20few%20of%20the%20suggestions%20some%20of%20the%20reviewers%20mentioned%20-%20using%20apple%20juice%20instead%20of%20the%20water,%20and%20adding%20some%20vanilla.%20%20I%20thought%20it%20turned%20out%20really%20good.%20%20Another%20reviewer%20suggested%20adding%20more%20cinnamon,%20but%20I%20stuck%20with%20the%20original%201/2%20tsp.%20because%20I%20used%20another%20recipe%20for%20crock%20pot%20applesauce%20several%20years%20ago,%20and%20it%20was%20really%20cinnamony.%20%20I%20figured%20I'd%20rather%20have%20the%20flavor%20of%20the%20apples%20shine%20through.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20recipe%20calls%20for%20about%2012%20cups%20of%20sliced%20apples.%20%20I%20ended%20up%20adding%20another%20cup%20or%20two%20because%20my%20crock%20pot%20was%20so%20close%20to%20being%20full%20I%20figured%20I%20might%20as%20well%20fill%20it%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20way.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20cooked%20mine%20on%20high,%20and%20stirred%20it%20occasionally,%20about%20once%20every%20hour.%20%20I%20also%20cooked%20it%20probably%204%20hours%20and%20then%20let%20it%20cook%20another%20hour%20with%20the%20lid%20slightly%20cracked%20to%20let%20some%20of%20the%20liquid%20cook%20off.%20%20Cooking%20times%20can%20vary%20depending%20on%20the%20type%20of%20apples%20you%20use.%20%20I'm%20not%20sure%20what%20kind%20of%20apples%20I%20used%20because%20I%20got%20them%20off%20my%20neighbors'%20tree.%20%20All%20I%20know%20is%20that%20they're%20fairly%20tart%20and%20they%20hold%20together%20pretty%20well%20when%20cooked.%20%20That's%20great%20for%20apple%20pie,%20but%20it%20does%20take%20a%20bit%20more%20cooking%20(and%20stirring)%20for%20applesauce.%20%20The%20good%20part%20about%20cooking%20the%20apples%20in%20the%20crock%20pot%20is%20that%20it%20doesn't%20really%20matter.%20%20You%20can%20cook%20them%20as%20long%20as%20you%20want,%20and%20you%20don't%20need%20to%20keep%20a%20close%20eye%20on%20the%20pot.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe're%20really%20enjoying%20this.%20%20It's%20great%20when%20it's%20fresh%20and%20warm%20straight%20out%20of%20the%20crock%20pot,%20and%20it's%20good%20cold,%20too.%20%20Definitely%20give%20it%20a%20try.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
