Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 c. lowfat milk
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 T butter
  • 1 1/2 c. 10x sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract

Directions

  1. Put flour, salt and sugar in bowl. Cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in water. Scald lowfat milk and cool. Put together large eggs with lowfat milk. Add in yeast and add in liquid to flour. Mix lightly till flour is moist. Don't knead. Chill overnight. Divide dough in half. Roll like cinnamon rolls. Mix 1 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Sprinkle on rolled out dough. Roll up and cut in 5/8 inch slices. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 min. Yields: 4 dozen.
  2. Heat butter, add in sugar and vanilla extract. Blend with hot water till icing can be spread.
