Ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon table salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cups white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips (any kind you like, or a mix)
- 1/2 cup toffee bits (optional)

%20I%E2%80%99m%20done%20with%20my%20cookie%20craving.%20%20And%20then%20I%E2%80%99m%20left%20with%20the%20task%20of%20rolling%20all%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20balls,%20baking%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20sheets,%20and%20waiting%208-10%20minutes%20at%20a%20time%20to%20take%20each%20one%20out%20of%20the%20oven.%20%20(Don%E2%80%99t%20tell%20me%20to%20freeze%20the%20dough,%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20into%20that.)%20%20Sometimes%20it%E2%80%99s%20sort%20of%20annoying,%20which%20is%20why%20I%20like%20to%20make%20them%20in%20bar%20form%20once%20in%20a%20while.%20%20It%E2%80%99s%20a%20really%20quick%20and%20easy%20way%20to%20get%20the%20same%20soft%20and%20chewy%20home-baked%20cookie,%20but%20just%E2%80%A6squared.%20%20These%20are%20super%20quick%20to%20whip%20up.%20%20It%20probably%20takes%205%20minutes%20to%20measure%20everything%20out,%20mix%20it,%20and%20have%20it%20in%20the%20oven.%20%20Bam.%20%20Cookie-time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStart%20with%20a%20mix%20of%20brown%20and%20white%20sugars.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20that%20up%20with%20some%20melted%20butter,%20and%20then%20add%20eggs%20and%20a%20generous%20splash%20of%20vanilla.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20those%20are%20incorporated,%20sprinkle%20in%20your%20dry%20ingredients%20a%20little%20at%20a%20time:%20%20flour,%20baking%20soda,%20and%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELastly,%20you%E2%80%99ll%20need%20some%20chocolate%20chips,%20and%20you%20can%20use%20any%20kind%20you%20like.%20%20I%20never%20use%20milk%20chocolate%20in%20desserts%20because%20I%20think%20they%20just%20turn%20out%20overly%20sweet.%20%20So%20I%20go%20for%20semi-sweet%20or%20dark.%20%20In%20these,%20I%20particularly%20like%20a%20mix%20of%20semi-sweet%20and%20white%20so%20I%E2%80%99m%20using%20half%20and%20half.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20those%20are%20mixed%20in,%20you%E2%80%99ll%20press%20the%20dough%20into%20a%20foil-lined%209%C3%9713%20pan.%20%20A%20pan%20with%20straight%20corners%20works%20best,%20and%20I%20always%20line%20my%20pans%20for%20bar%20cookies%20because%20it%20makes%20it%20infinitely%20easier%20to%20cut%20them%20afterward,%20when%20you%20can%20just%20lift%20the%20entire%20giant%20bar%20right%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20just%20pop%20the%20entire%20pan%20in%20the%20oven%20and%20bake%20%E2%80%98em%20up.%20%20They%E2%80%99re%20done%20when%20the%20edges%20are%20just%20golden%20brown%20and%20you%20can%20tell%20they%E2%80%99re%20set%20up.%20%20The%20middle%20will%20still%20appear%20pretty%20soft.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20absolute%20hardest%20part%20of%20this%20is%20waiting%20for%20these%20bad%20boys%20to%20cool.%20%20If%20you%20sneak%20out%20a%20square%20right%20out%20of%20the%20oven,%20it%20will%20be%20gooey%20and%20doughy%20and%20fall%20apart.%20%20As%20they%20cool%20they%20continue%20to%20set%20up.%20%20If%20you%E2%80%99re%20going%20to%20serve%20them%20before%20they%E2%80%99ve%20cooled%20all%20the%20way,%20I%20suggest%20putting%20them%20in%20a%20bowl%20with%20ice%20cream%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOtherwise,%20cool%20completely%20to%20room%20temp%20and%20then%20cut%20into%20squares.%20%20%20These%20are%20slightly%20crisp%20around%20the%20edges,%20and%20super%20soft%20in%20the%20middle,%20and%20basically%20heaven%20in%20a%20bar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPerfect%20for%20a%20weeknight%20treat,%20%20a%20potluck%20party,%20or%20breakfast.%20%20We%20won%E2%80%99t%20judge.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESoft%20and%20Thick%20Chocolate%20Chip%20Cookie%20Bars%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe%20by%20Our%20Best%20Bites%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInstructions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees.%20%20Line%20a%209%C3%9713%20inch%20baking%20pan%20with%20foil%20and%20lightly%20spray%20the%20bottom%20with%20cooking%20spray.%20%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20flour,%20baking%20soda,%20and%20salt%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20whisk%20to%20combine.%20%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20mixing%20bowl,%20combine%20brown%20sugar,%20white%20sugar,%20and%20melted%20butter.%20%20Add%20eggs,%20one%20at%20a%20time,%20stirring%20between%20each%20addition,%20and%20vanilla.%20%20Add%20dry%20ingredients%20a%20little%20at%20a%20time%20until%20incorporated.%20Stir%20in%20chocolate%20chips%20(save%20a%20few%20for%20the%20top%20if%20desired).%20%20Once%20dough%20is%20thoroughly%20mixed,%20press%20into%20the%20prepared%20baking%20pan.%20%20Bake%20for%20about%2025%20minutes%20(all%20ovens%20are%20different,%20set%20timer%20for%2020%20minutes%20to%20start%20checking%20on%20them.%20%20They%20will%20bake%20for%2020-30,%2025%20is%20perfection%20in%20my%20oven.)%20%20Remove%20from%20oven%20when%20edges%20are%20golden%20brown%20and%20center%20appears%20set,%20but%20still%20soft.%20%20Cool%20completely%20to%20room%20temperature%20and%20then%20cut%20into%20squares.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELAST%20day%20for%20this%20promo!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
