Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups AP flour
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • scant tsp. seasoned salt
  • 3 tbs. butter
  • 2 tbs. Crisco (I use butter flavor)
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. Butter, Crisco, and buttermilk should be cold.
  2. Heat oven to 450 F.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  4. Cut in butter and shortening with a pastry cutter or fork.
  5. Work dough until pea-size crumbles.
  6. Stir in buttermilk.
  7. Form into a ball.
  8. Lightly flour a work surface.
  9. Pat dough into a 1" tall round.
  10. Cut into desired size biscuits.
  11. Bake 10-12 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
